Recommendations

  Important to consider before surgery
COSTA RICA SURGEONAll patients must have a complete check up, complete blood work (CBC), TP, PTT, and an EKG before their operation. If you have these tests done before you will not travel in vain, since everything must be in order prior to surgery.

Smoking
If you smoke, the likelihood of wound healing problems and other complications increases. Smoking must be avoided completely for at least two weeks prior to surgery. “Cutting down” is not enough to remove the adverse effects that smoking has on wound healing.

Stop
If you take Vitamin E, Aspirin or Arnica, discontinue use for at least two weeks before surgery.

Post-Surgical recommendations
• Plastic surgeries can help reduce problems caused by aging, fat or genetics. But the results don’t last forever and the patient should engage in a healthy lifestyle.
• Depending on the procedure, the surgeon will recommend a rest period and getting back to a daily routine should take days. It is also necessary to find someone able to take care of the patient (feeding and giving medications).
• Keep the surgeon’s phone number always by your side.
• Make-up should not be worn in any treated area.
• Avoid spicy or fat food that may enrage your stomach.
• Keep proper hygienic conditions to avoid an infection.
• Take only the pain medication prescribed by the Doctor.
• Do not apply anything on your incisions that has not been prescribed for you.
• Use only soap and water to clean the place of incision.
• If there is persistent redness or if you have a fever, consult with your doctor.
