This procedure is currently the gold standard for
the surgical correction of nearsightedness. The entire surgery takes
only 10 to 20 minutes, and the laser beam is used less than one
minute.
One to two days after LASIK the patient can do
most daily activities without lenses. Eligibility exams require
before LASIK surgery are a corneal topography, tachymetry (corneal
thickness) and a complete ophthalmic examination.
